Overview
Scope:
The Engineering Intern will be involved in work centered on key roles supported by Heartland FPG including Engineering, Plant Systems, and Data Analysis. Intern could also have the opportunity to participate in client and consultant meetings as well as communication and research initiatives. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in and learn about the Engineering side of the business.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Field verification of existing and creation of new P&ID drawings.
- Executing and overseeing pipe labelling throughout the site, per company standards.
- Developing and executing a process for managing natural gas usage to minimize deviations from planned volumes each month.
- Creation or Review of LOTO procedures
- Review and consolidate equipment documentation for use in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Develop a demand model for nitrogen
- Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points.
- Partners with EHS to ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical field
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail
- Very task-oriented
- Self-starter
- Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
- Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds
- Must be able and willing to work at height.
- Must be able and willing to be trained on and/or utilize scissor lifts and/or boom lifts to complete tasks and duties as needed.
