Responsibilities

  • Manage firewalls, data security systems, and network monitoring/alerting solutions to keep data and communications protected while proactively alerting on issues.
  • Identify, document, and validate compliance of network and infrastructure security best practices
  • Plan and implement new systems, upgrades and patching while adhering to best practices
  • Advise on the expansion of current infrastructure including cloud opportunities to meet the evolving demands of the business
  • Maintain infrastructure for networking, storage, and compute with focus for minimal downtime
  • Monitor infrastructure and making recommendations to improve network performance for all systems
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to IT team members
  • Recommend and implement disaster recovery procedures and solutions
  • Grow current knowledge and understanding of security, networking, and infrastructure best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
  • Help mentor staff in their project initiatives

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in IT Network Operations in a multi-site, enterprise environment

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of ITIL concepts and best practices with emphasis on Data Center practices
  • Solid background in network administration and architecture
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies including but not limited to:
    • Hyperconverged Infrastructure
    • Virtualization
  • Enterprise network configuration and management including SD-WAN
    • Advanced Firewall Management
    • Enterprise Data Protection and retention solutions
  • Network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
    • Microsoft server
    • Azure and Office 365
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting / automation (PowerShell, Python)
  • Ability to work with people at all levels in the organization, in addition to consultants and vendors
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direct guidance
  • Persistence in resolving issues without becoming upset or overly frustrated
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and identify resolutions
  • Ability to:
    • work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
    • to balance multiple shifting priorities and deadlines
    • work from end results backwards to determine the best course of action for problem solving
    • exhibit positive “Can Do” attitude
    • to be available outside of normal business hours to resolve business issues and for on-call rotation.
    • securely handle strictly confidential information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct: None

Indirect: Responsible for mentoring other team members. Position will be instrumental in developing and adhering to Red Gold IT Engineering’s best practices and will be expected to be a role model for IT and company policy.
