Overview

Position Overview: Manages the direction and expansion of Keystone Cooperative’s seed business.  Develops and implements strategy, sales plan, and forecasts for business development, sales, and account management.  Grow relationships, alignment, and goal setting with suppliers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in conjunction with the Assistant Vice President to develop and implement a seed business annual plan with objectives and strategies to increase revenue and aggressively acquire market share.
  • Manage the preparation and implementation of sales and business development plans, sales forecasts, and strategies.
  • Prepare and monitor sales budget & forecast.
  • Negotiate supplier annual & multi-annual contracts and work agreements with guidance from Assistant Vice President
  • Work with Keystone Cooperative’s Regional Directors, Branch Managers, & Sales Professionals to support the company’s effort to grow profitably.
  • Seek and create opportunities to expand business with current and new clients.
  • Contribute to Keystone Cooperative’s procurement team; helping cover for each other when colleagues are away and collaborating on new growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Keystone Cooperative’s procurement team when product overlap or program overlap occurs.
  • Identify future business needs and present a solution.
  • Utilize, analyze & help create value with Keystone Cooperative digital interfaces.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, as necessary, to help both downstream and upstream personnel understand Keystone Cooperative’s seed business position.
  • Promote company endorsed programs and services.
  • Develop sales documentation including but not limited to spreadsheets, correspondence, sales proposals, presentations, and internal paperwork for customer proposals and presentations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures that enhance the efficiency of the sales team.
  • Attend customer & other internal events to provide insight on the seed market.
  • Attend industry conventions, conferences, and trade shows as needed; prepare post-event reports and analysis.
  • Continually gather and monitor information on competition and market trends; communicate information to others as needed.
  • Understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, and policies and procedures to appropriate individuals.
  • Interpret complex laws, regulations, and/or policies as they apply to seed business
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Vice President

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High level of integrity
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Well-developed negotiation, project, and account management skills
  • Working knowledge of industry product information.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and consultative sales skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience or equivalent
