Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and community-focused Mortgage Loan Officer to join our team with a specialized focus on Fair Lending, LMI/MMCT outreach, and CRA-eligible lending. This role is ideal for a mission-driven professional who is passionate about expanding access to homeownership in underserved communities and ensuring compliance with fair lending laws and CRA objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

· Originate and process residential mortgage loans with a focus on LMI borrowers, MMCT areas, and CRA-qualified loans.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, housing counselors, and real estate professionals serving underserved markets.

· Conduct outreach and participate in community events, homebuyer education seminars, and financial literacy workshops.

· Ensure all lending practices are in full compliance with Fair Lending, ECOA, HMDA, and CRA regulations.

· Collaborate with the CRA Officer to identify and report CRA-eligible activities and ensure accurate documentation.

· Maintain a pipeline of qualified applicants and guide them through the mortgage process with transparency and care.

· Stay informed on affordable housing programs, down payment assistance, and government-backed loan products (e.g., FHA, VA, USDA).

· Provide exceptional customer service and support to borrowers throughout the loan process.

Requirements

 

Qualifications:

· Strong knowledge of CRA, Fair Lending laws, and LMI/MMCT lending strategies.

· Familiarity with affordable housing programs and community-based lending initiatives.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a mission-driven team.

· NMLS license required.

Preferred Attributes:

· Bilingual (Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in target communities).

· Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) or similar mortgage industry knowledge

· Banking or other financial institution experience

· Experience working with non-profit housing organizations or community development financial institutions (CDFIs).
