This role is not a remote opportunity, it is on-site at our Distribution Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

Scope:

The primary responsibility of the Logistics Analyst is to track shipments and achieve 100% on-time delivery. Serves as primary contact for all daily shipment status reports, overages, shortages and damages. Responsible for reporting on-time delivery metrics, maintaining carrier scorecard, primary communications to motor carriers and transportation intermediaries. Load planning and load management required.

 

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Shipment Tracking & Tendering

  • Expert understanding and knowledge of BluJay Transportation Management System
  • Proactively monitor customer orders to insure on-time delivery
  • Proactively manage any suspected late shipments with customer service
  • Communicate and follow through with any expedited orders to carriers
  • Obtain quotes and tenders shipments to carriers
  • Communicate customer requests and policies (such as appointment policies) to carriers
  • Ensure that deliveries are tendered to fall within the MABD range
  • Communicate forecasted demand with carriers to ensure capacity
  • Review shipping requirements for new customer to ensure compliance
  • Approve all expedited freight charges and detention charges
  • File freight claims as needed
  • Complete new vendor forms when new providers are sourced
  • Route collect shipments for customers that require vendor routing

Customer Service

  • Communicate any order delays with Customer Service prior to the order being late to ensure PO is extended or appointment time is modified
  • Work with A/P to reconcile customer short pays (related to logistics) as needed
  • Work with A/R to resolve/approve freight invoice discrepancies
  • Work cross functionally with Sales and Marketing to determine freight analysis for customers
  • Handle all order inquiries regarding order status when shipment is in transit

Analytics, Reporting and Data Integrity

  • Maintain carrier scorecards with respect to On-Time Delivery, shortages and damages
  • Maintain carrier files
  • Create and maintain reports generated from TMS
  • Analyze reporting data looking for trends and opportunities for cost savings
  • Identify process roadblocks and sinkholes
  • Ensure consistency and accountability throughout
  • Build analytics and process scalability

Miscellaneous Support

  • Work with warehouse Operations to schedule and manage daily customer orders
  • Stay abreast of the industry by reading periodicals such as Transport Topics, Food Logistics and Inbound Logistics
  • Assist with special projects
  • Manage and maintain internal shuttle fleet and coordinate daily activities
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2 years or more of logistics experience, including experience working with a transportation management system
  • Detailed understanding of Truckload and Less than Truckload carriers and experience analyzing RFP process
  • Computer literacy required. Experience in the Microsoft Office suite of products; specifically, Excel and Word. Ability to learn SYSPRO and database applications required
  • Background in problem solving, analysis, logistics strategy and load planning
  • Professional demeanor
  • Demonstrate a very high sense of urgency. Speed to market is critical
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
