Position Summary:
The In Vivo Biologist is responsible for supporting multiple animal studies including but not limited to in-vivo animal handling skills, take down, tissue collection and dosing.
What You’ll Do:
- Demonstrate exceptional ability to assist team members with executing high-quality in vivo studies and record down dosing times, dosing volume, bleeding times, body weights, food consumption and unscheduled events
- Be able to carry out randomize, blind, formulate, dosing of test compounds to study animals using the following methodologies PO, subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP)
- Delivers high-quality tissue samples, including plasma, cerebral spinal fluid, and organs including dorsal root ganglion, brain, and other central nervous system structures.
- Process, label, and deliver samples for analysis internally and externally
- Conduct or assist in conducting in vivo behavioral studies
- Record data in notebook, presenting in laboratory/project meetings
- Demonstrates aseptic procedures
- Assists in preparing lab for necropsies, general lab ordering, general lab maintenance, stocking, organization and reagent preparation
What You’ll Need:
- Demonstrated proficiency in dosing and handling mice and rats.
- Able to collect animal plasma, cerebral spinal fluid, and tissues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to document experiments clearly and according to Good Research Practice principles.
- Ensures full compliance with all regulations, including understanding and following all Animal Care and Use protocols.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related scientific field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with animal handling, dosing experience, and tissue collection
- Minimum of one (1) year experience with animal behavioral studies
