Overview
Indiana Farmers Insurance is currently looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Finance Team. This position has the opportunity to work in the office, a hybrid schedule or remotely.
As a Financial Reporting Accountant with Indiana Farmers Insurance, you will partner with the Controller to complete monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions. This position is responsible for financial and compliance reporting as well as ensuring that accounting functions are performed using proven and acceptable accounting practices while maintaining a strong internal control environment and a high degree of confidentiality.
The Financial Reporting Accountant has a high level of visibility within the company and in turn, needs to have strong interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications and Responsibilities of the Financial Reporting Accountant include:
- College degree in Accounting or Finance
- Three or more years accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry
- Develops and maintains appropriate controls, systems, procedures and organizational structure to accomplish assigned responsibilities and tasks. Works with accounting management to lead the internal control environment for the department
- Coordinates, helps prepare and supports the preparation of financial accounting data for the annual financial audit and assists outside auditors and Insurance Department examiners as requested
- Provides input for directing the formulation and implementation of accounting principles, policies and procedures. Oversees adherence to such policies
- Monitors reinsurance reporting and collections of losses and catastrophic losses
- Strong analytical problem solving and interpersonal communication skills
- CPA license, optional
