Corteva Agriscience is currently seeking a driven Research Associate Investigator to join the Crop Protection Insecticide Biology Group at our Indianapolis Research and Development facility. In this role, the selected candidate will be instrumental in advancing ongoing projects by conducting groundbreaking research on bioinsecticides to facilitate the discovery and development of innovative biological solutions. Key responsibilities will encompass performing bioassays, data collection, ensuring laboratory safety practices, and resource management. We are looking for a dynamic scientist with exceptional organizational abilities to excel in this stimulating opportunity within a dynamic R&D environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team setting, engage with other research groups, and effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Managing and refining weekly laboratory and greenhouse bioassays, including setup, implementation, and assessment
  • Assisting in the development of new screening methodology (lab, greenhouse) for the evaluation of biological insecticides
  • Handling plant material and insects in laboratories and greenhouses (e.g., inspecting, sorting, staging, troubleshooting)
  • Coordinating and scheduling laboratory resources to maintain an efficient screening process
  • Maintaining compliance with requirements for handling plant material, insects, and pathogens, as well as safety protocols
  • Collecting, managing, and ensuring the quality of data

Qualifications

Requirements: What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in Entomology or a related scientific field, or a bachelor’s degree in science with at least 2-3 years of related experience
  • Experience with plants, insects, microbes, greenhouse and laboratory operations
  • Demonstrated aptitude in assay development and problem-solving
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to work in a dynamic laboratory environment
  • Experience testing bioinsecticides in controlled environment conditions is preferred
  • Working knowledge of molecular insect-microbe interactions, insect pathology, microbiology, and molecular biology tools is preferred
