POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide leadership to District Sales Managers to drive sales growth, increase market penetration, dealer development and recruitment of new dealers in the assigned region.  Continually develop field sales team with relevant problem-solving, business acumen and communication skills. Ensure sales teams develop and execute business plans to achieve goals. This role will cover eastern Iowa. The ideal applicant will reside in Eastern Iowa (east of I-35). Ideal notable cities within the geography include, but are not limited to, Des Moines, Iowa City, Davenport, Cedar Rapids and Cedar Falls.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and actively implement an annual business for the region and achieve sales targets for areas of responsibility, including building a sales forecast and sales reports, budget presentation and reporting
  • Lead District Sales Managers within an assigned Region. Provide timely and effective feedback and coaching as it relates to goal achievement, strategy implementation, budget management, and tasks. Set direction, assess, motivate, develop, and create a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Drive accountability with and provide coaching to the District Sales Managers in successfully completing business plans
  • Work closely with the District Sales Manager and Dealer Development Manager to ensure dealer sales volume and recruitment targets are achieved
  • Coach and develop team to improve specific competencies, skills and behaviors, as it relates to effective selling techniques, product & agronomic knowledge, and use of relevant systems and tools
  • Assume the lead role for any branded event held in the region in coordination with the marketing department
  • Responsible for driving product showcase experiences (plots, field days, dealer trainings and events) in coordination with local Sales Agronomist
  • Function as a member of the AgReliant Division Leadership Team, which includes short and long-term strategic planning and implementation of the brand’s Go-To-Market plan
  • Select quality people through recruiting and hiring of District Sales Managers to maintain fully staffed Region
  • Collaborate closely with Customer Service to manage product supply, and to drive shipment and deliveries
  • Track competitor sales and marketing programs tactics and coach team on how to maneuver accordingly leveraging your own tools, resources and programs and advise commercial sales management and marketing of this competitive intelligence
  • Champion company decisions and communications
  • Project a positive image of represented Brand and AgReliant Genetics and function as a role model for Company Core Values
  • Other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy or related field
  •  Minimum of seven (7) years of sales experience, sales/account management experience or 5 or more years of sales experience working in agriculture
  •  Prior people management / leadership experience strongly preferred
  •  Experience working in the seed industry
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred

  •  Knowledge of the seed industry highly preferred
  •  Ability to manage and lead in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook Calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •  Ability to work required hours and travel as necessary, some overnight travel required
  •  Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements
