Overview
Weaver Popcorn Hybrids is seeking a hardworking, motivated individual to participate in a three-month summer internship. The Agronomy internship will offer the opportunity to work in all aspects of the popcorn seed production process.
You will work closely with the Field Production Manager and gain hands-on experience in:
· The machinery, equipment, and timing of seed production.
· Conducting crop scouting reports (stand counts, weed, insect, and disease ID).
· Working with rogue and de-tasseling crew to maintain field purity (field counts).
· Collecting and compiling pollination data.
We are located in New Richmond, IN, just south of Lafayette, IN. Reliable transportation to the research station is required but travel to and from popcorn fields can be provided.
Required qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in plant breeding, agronomy, horticulture, plant biology, or related field
· Valid U.S. driver’s license
· Reliable transportation to New Richmond, IN site (30 minutes south of Lafayette)
· Relevant coursework in agronomy, plant breeding, plant pathology, and genetics
· Ability to work independently and solve problems
· Attention to detail and excellent observation skills
· Key qualities: Honest, responsible, strong work ethic, self-motivated

· Able to take direction and work either independently or with others
· Motivated to learn and take responsibility for duties
· Willing to ask questions and adapt to change
