The National Pork Board (NPB) is seeking a dynamic person to lead the US Pork Checkoff’s International Market Development Strategy. This person will serve as the primary NPB staff resource on all international market development by collaborating with NPB leadership, NPB Market Growth team, and the US pork industry supply chain to maximize the market growth and international marketing strategy.
As an individual contributor, the VP will look for opportunities to build and maintain close working relationships with appropriate industry and government stakeholders. The Vice President will be a member of the NPB Leadership team and work with US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) to identify and manage new and emerging market opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Marketing: Work with the Senior Leadership Team, NPB Producer Advisory Group and Board of Directors to establish strategies, goals and tactics for increasing and diversifying U.S. pork exports. Provide information on trade issues and international marketing programs to NPB producer leadership and leadership team.
Planning: Develop both short-term and long-term plans to understand market access, execute market development, and international marketing. Work closely with NPB Market Growth domestic team to develop integrated marketing plans and share resources, plus other duties as assigned. Develop and deliver concise, insightful and relevant presentations to the Board, Leadership Team and external audiences.
Decision making: Make recommendations to senior leadership on all aspects of international market development. Develop budget allocation recommendations within policy guidelines and through normal budgeting process. Manage and monitors annual budget. Direct NPB oversight of contractor/vendor budget audits. Ability to think and act independently and effectively advocate for NPB positions on all issues.
Leadership: Ability to influence and coordinate professional staff across various departments.
Background Requirements:
- Applicants should have a minimum of 7 years agricultural industry experience, preferably with exposure to international marketing, policy, or trade.
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in international business, marketing, international trade or other related discipline is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an extensive variety of people, including pork producers, business executives, and people from diverse cultures. Foreign language proficiency is a plus.
- A proven ability to diplomatically manage dynamic, complex and politically sensitive issues and relationships in a timely fashion.
This position is located in Des Moines, Iowa. Relocation support will be offered. Remote candidates may be considered based on circumstances of their qualifications. The starting salary range for this role is $150-$175K. Please note: This starting range is based on a general market pay assessment. However, individual salary decisions take into account a variety of factors including but not limited to: business and local market considerations, internal equity, and overall candidate skills, education and experience
Extensive travel, both domestic and international via car and air (Approximately 60%). Must have a valid US driver’s license and a good driving record. Must have a valid US Passport and ability to obtain VISAs in all relevant international countries.
