Your Role: Trademark Paralegal

Elanco Animal Health is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Trademark Paralegal to join our dynamic Intellectual Property (“IP”) team. This position will primarily focus on global portfolio brand management, ensuring the protection and enforcement of Elanco’s brands and marks worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trademark law and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Assistant General Counsel – Intellectual Property & Brand Management in executing company’s brand enforcement strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage Elanco’s global trademark portfolio, overseeing trademark searches, filings, registrations, and renewals with precision.
  • Coordinate closely with outside counsel and trademark agents to ensure efficient prosecution of trademark applications and maintain compliance.
  • Conduct thorough trademark clearance searches and deliver risk assessments for new brand initiatives to mitigate potential legal issues.
  • Draft and review trademark-related agreements such as license agreements and coexistence agreements, ensuring legal clarity and alignment with business goals.

 

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma / GED with equivalent level of experience.
  • Required Experience: A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, preferably in a global corporate environment or law firm.
  • Top Skills: Trademark prosecution and portfolio management expertise; exceptional organizational skills and detail-oriented and proactive.

 

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize projects, working well under pressure to meet specific deadlines.
  • Impeccable integrity and accountability.
  • Technically savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software systems quickly.
  • Experience with docketing systems, e.g., Anaqua, is a plus, but not required.
  • Possesses clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
