The Bee Corp is a benefit corporation based in Indianapolis, IN that applies data analytics to beekeeping. Our mission is to empower growers and beekeepers by delivering insights into beehive health. The Bee Corp pursues this mission by offering growers infrared inspection technology to measure pollination value and drive decisions to protect yield.

Position Summary:

The Bee Corp is looking for an Operations and Business Development Intern to harvest sales and partnership leads as well as aid in the logistical planning and deployment of our agricultural technology. The start date for this internship is flexible, ideally beginning in September 2021. This is a cross-functional role that may require the intern to travel with us to California for the entire month of February, where travel and lodging expenses will be covered by The Bee Corp. During your time in California, you’ll participate in a variety of activities, such as scheduling, hive grading logistics, and performing beehive inspections. The hive grading process involves working directly with almond growers, beekeepers, and beehives. If unable to travel to California, you will be working remote to provide customer support, and to coordinate logistics to support the teams in the field. The intern will also play an active role in the pre-pollination season logistical planning and post season assessment. Beekeeping knowledge is a plus but is not required. Candidate should be self-motivated, able to juggle multiple projects, and work in a team environment. This position will be part-time, and paid $13-15 an hour, depending on experience. The majority of this role will be based in Indianapolis, IN or remote for students working outside of Indianapolis, with the possibility travel to California during the month of February.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Involvement in scheduling, planning, and performing our Hive Grading Service Plan
  • Perform Beehive Inspections using our Infrared Imagery technology
  • Attend mandatory Training Session in January
  • Research and qualify leads for sales and partnerships

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or graduate student
  • Potentially able to work during nighttime hours (9pm – 7am roughly) in the month of February
  • Willingness to travel and open to work with bees
  • Valid Driver’s License is not required but recommended
  • Must not be allergic to honey bees.
