Business Development Senior Advisor will be focused on the execution of strategic direction of business development in full alignment with Elanco’s overarching strategy and business objectives. This role is responsible for identifying potential new revenue streams, acquiring future products, divestitures and addressing pipeline and technology needs and positioning Elanco as a preferred partner through relationship building with potential targets.


In addition this role will involve:

  • Partnering with and assisting business area leadership to understand strategies and priorities
  • Identifying and qualifying potential targets
  • Assembling and leading cross-functional transaction teams through deal negotiation and execution
  • Successful transition of completed transactions to line and alliance management
  • Helping to optimize the portfolio through asset rationalization

  • Lead business development transactions including acquisitions, in-licensing, out-licensing, etc.
  • Proactively search for solutions in areas of unmet needs
  • Work effectively and flexibly within and across Elanco (including non-traditional teams) to achieve overall strategic deliverables

  • Leverage a network of cross-functional talent across the organization including R&D, legal, IP, tax, corporate finance, accounting, M&Q, regulatory, etc.
  • This role will have direct interaction with the broader business development team and will support internal processes for ensuring high quality well-informed governance and decisions making

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) or 10+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business development, animal health R&D, due diligence, finance, commercial or significant animal health industry experience (>10 years)


Additional Preferences:  

  • Background in animal health including broad, cross-functional knowledge of the business
  • Proven track-record of framing, organizing, developing, and executing business development projects that deliver outstanding results
  • Demonstrated ability to connect the dots and an understand implications and consequences of certain developments or acquisitions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Proven experience influencing constituents without formal authority to adopt improvements
