Job Summary

The Senior Graphic Designer will work with the Director of Research Marketing and Communication to spearhead graphic design efforts in support of the digital, print, photography, and motion graphic needs of research marketing and communication. This individual must have the ability to frequently produce clean, polished, professional designs and layouts that promote the university’s research advancements, collaborations, and the resulting impact on individuals, our nation, and our world. In alignment with the Purdue brand and identity, the position offers an opportunity to develop and lead direction for the visual communication about the university’s leading research and technology.
In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the conception, design, and execution of innovative and strategic communication and marketing materials
  • Visually leads storytelling across platforms with impeccable attention to details
  • Participate in strategic and tactical projects and contribute innovative ideas, tactics, and art direction appropriate to each initiative
  • Collaborate in the creation and presentation of creative strategies to the brand team and leadership
  • Work with internal staff and external agencies to execute creative ideas in photography, video, animation, design, etc.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Multimedia or related field of study
  • Four years of graphic design experience working with a research-oriented organization or tech company
  • Production experience in digital, print, and video
  • Experience following brand standards and operating within identity guidelines
  • Experience in fast-paced work environments
  • Demonstrated design and conceptual skills
  • Professional competency with Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently and be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Good time management skills in order to meet deadlines on multiple projects
  • Proven ability to provide effective direction to production partners
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills
