POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for assisting with the strategy and implementation of policy and public relations programs for the organizations with a focus on farmer-focused state policy initiatives and working with national organizations on federal policy. This includes implementation of objectives and tactics of the Indiana Soybean Alliance checkoff (ISA) and ISA membership and policy initiatives, the Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC) and the Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA). ICMC and ICGA are managed under shared services agreements with ISA. Focus areas of expertise include knowledge of corn, soybeans, livestock, and state and federal issues (checkoff and public policy).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cultivate and manage strategic, high-level relationships with government agencies, legislators, policy consultants, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission. Foster collaboration, accountability, and farmer-focused in all engagements.

• Lead the development and execution of strategic policy initiatives by monitoring legislative and regulatory trends. Translate insights into actionable strategies and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and policy organizations.

• Represent the organization at state and national meetings and coalitions, ensuring that farmers’ voices are heard, respected, and reflected.

• Oversee the Industry Affairs team, providing strong leadership in team development, administrative operations, budget oversight, and organizational planning.

• Ensure operational excellence through effective administration of team performance, budget management, and program implementation.

• Drive membership growth and retention, achieving annual targets by strengthening farmer engagement.

• Lead the organization’s sponsorship and revenue strategies, identifying and securing financial partnerships and allied industry partner engagement.

• Collaborate across departments on integrated initiatives, aligning communications, and programming efforts to support strategic objectives.

• Serve as both a strategic leader and operational executor, combining long-term vision with disciplined implementation and stakeholder relationship management.
