The Senior Director, Omni-Channel Digital Marketing is responsible for two critical aspects of our digital transformation; 1) advancing our digital strategy, and implementation plans to support key business priorities for Pet Owners, Veterinarians, and Farm Animal and 2) establishing a cohesive digital marketing foundation that serves as the basis of our digital investments across the organization/globe.  This thought leader will partner closely with key business leaders in Brand, Pet Health, Farm Animal, R&D, I.T., and Sales to leverage insights to inform digital strategies and plans with demonstrable proof points resulting in business value for the organization.

This key digital leader is responsible for advancing our digital marketing strategies and capabilities across the globe. This key leader in Digital Marketing is accountable for thought leadership, capability building, and development of cross-brand and country digital strategies, influencing local market decisions that reach and engage target audiences through digital channels.

They will create a common vision and strategy for the core fundamentals of digital marketing using outside inspiration from the animal health industry and beyond. This vision will be consumer/customer driven and designed to flex based on shifting behavioral trends, new technology advancements, and market conditions. Ideal candidates must consider themselves true digital natives and will be called upon to act as both an evangelist for digital and a business owner, delivering innovative problem-solving techniques and an ability to drive business returns. This will require a healthy balance of innovative thinking and business pragmatism, to ensure we continue to challenge status quo while maximizing our return on investment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the multi-faceted program to improve the digital marketing capabilities of the organization. This includes determining the programs we will be using to educate and onboard the marketing organization and lead knowledge sharing across countries at different levels.

  • Assist with guiding the transformation of our digital assets to be more customer-driven. This includes developing a multi-year plan across the company which prioritizes a common user experience and technology platform enabling our digital connections across paid, owned, earned, and shared properties.

  • Partnership with heads of digital disciplines to incorporate business knowledge into their capability roadmaps and identify candidates for testing and scaling of digital

  • Lead activities with business and brand leaders across the company to develop the digital marketing strategies and digital agendas/priorities/roadmap that meet the needs of our Pet & Animal Health businesses, driving measurable business outcomes

  • Responsible for developing and leading the execution of the functional evolution of web, mobile, social properties.

  • Guide digital investment decisions in the company in terms of our data capability, marketing technology roadmap, organization approaches and processes, and capability/digital channel expansion

  • Lead the work with internal teams and outside vendors to define digital project scope, timeline, and deliverables and overseeing execution against plans; influencing brand owners around the world and internal team in developing requirements, foreseeing issues and assuring consistency in how work is done with external and internal partners. They will be responsible for problem-solve issues when they arise.

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Central and Local Brand Marketing, Digital IT, Legal and Compliance teams, Project Management, Sales Operations team, Procurement, and Corporate Affairs to influence decision making. The individual must connect individuals across varying functions to be able to drive understanding, alignment, and collaboration. They are responsible for driving the resolution of key issues and barriers to moving work forward.

  • Manage a team of digital marketing experts/specialists that advise and educate local market affiliates on how to continually test and optimize their programs using the playbooks and guides established to help inform their work in the areas of web development, search, paid media, and social. This includes developing work plans and providing ongoing coaching and development.

  • Responsible for how we integrate digital techniques and tools into our marketing processes so that digital is at the core of how we go to market as brands, campaigns and with agencies including educating the organization on how best to incorporate digital into the brand planning process.

  • Institute a digital measurement discipline in partnership with the Measurement team, based on common KPI’s, for targeting, tracking, and evaluating media investments to ensure maximum ROI and delivery of shared learnings for all markets

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of experience in digital marketing/eCommerce role in consumer/customer-facing industries

  • 7+ years of experience in experience in both strategy and execution of digital marketing & media (incl. 2+ digital areas; Social, Search, Sales, eCommerce, Performance Marketing, Loyalty, and/or Engagement Marketing)

  • 3+ years People Management

  • Experience in Digital Transformation

  • Additional Skills & Preferences:

  • Experience in evolving an organization from digital as a function to digital at the core of the integrated marketing approach and process

  • Ability to influence and consult with cross-functional leadership, to inform decision making, and help drive actions amongst a team

  • Expertise in the brand planning process and integration of digital into techniques and plans

  • Combination of technical breadth and depth to be able to influence cross-functional partners and manage an internal team and external partners to deliver digital outputs/deliverables

  • Strong people and agency management skills & experience

  • Preferable experience in 2+ industries: Pharma, Healthcare, CPG, Retail

  • Strong experience in strategy and execution of digital marketing tactics. Ability to synthesize business priorities with corresponding digital strategies to drive outcomes

  • Balance short-term and long-term thinking and plans in a rapidly evolving digital environment applying how new technologies and consumer behaviors are evolving to inform ideation.

  • Deep exposure to technology platforms for content distribution, mobile technologies, digital merchandising, digital design and user experience, digital marketing, and CRM

  • Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets and project budgets

  • Strong experience in project management methods to include AGILE solutions delivery and quality

  • Management experience working with and managing Digital and Design agencies

Travel

  • Up to 25% travel – globally

Location

  • This role can be located anywhere in the US with the ability to travel to Elanco’s corporate headquarters in Greenfield, IN, as needed
