Position Summary:

The Senior Director Global Tax Accounting and External Reporting will lead and manage the tax accounting function including oversight over the worldwide tax provision calculation and all tax related financial statement disclosures working directly with the company’s external auditors. This position is responsible for forecasting Elanco’s effective tax rate and keeping senior management apprised of risks and opportunities related to the effective tax rate. This position reports directly to the Global Head of Tax for Elanco.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the tax accounting function including oversight over the worldwide tax provision calculation and all tax related financial statement disclosures
  • Leads the forecasting the effective tax rate and timely communication of risks and opportunities
  • Provide tax planning support including assisting on the development of tax planning strategies and leading cross functional teams to implement those strategies
  • Build and maintain close working relationships across various corporate and business functions throughout the organization to help facilitate timely and accurate tax accounting and execution of tax strategy.
  • Assist foreign affiliates with the application of U.S. GAAP as it relates to accounting for income taxes
  • Partner with Elanco Treasury on cash flow management related to taxes as it affects current and strategic forecasts
  • Understand the business and related tax matters on a comprehensive basis and demonstrate the ability to factors these considerations into tax planning and forecasting
  • Support integration of acquisitions
  • Participate in special projects related to proposed investments, ERP implementations, due diligence, and other corporate initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of 5 direct reports

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 10 + years ASC 740 experience in public accounting or at a public multinational corporation
  • CPA
  • Experience overseeing the consolidation of world-wide tax provision
  • Working knowledge of international tax concepts and experience with process improvement, procedures as well as leveraging/optimizing tax technology.
  • Must be capable of working in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • SEC tax reporting experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • SAP or Alteryx experience

  • Worker Type: Flexible = work does not require a specific location or specialized equipment and can work successfully and productively across an ecosystem of different locations to support convenience, functionality, flexibility, and well-being. Flexible workers are expected to come on-site about half the time
  • Travel: Limited travel
