This is a leadership position, working with our Mass, and Pet Specialty retailers in addition to our Retail Distribution network.  This role will lead the sales efforts for our team and will be accountable for growing net sales for Elanco and retail sales for our valued customers.  This individual will possess strong management skills and be responsible for leading a team of Key Account Managers.  This individual will have a track record of creating win-win solutions to drive sales and exceed sales targets. This individual should be obessessed with customer partnerships, and enjoy building strong relationships with customers to drive revenue.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Building strong relationships with retail partners to drive mutual growth
  • Strong business acumen, with ability to analyze and understand syndicated data, financial implications, and identify additional opportunities to close revenue gaps
  • Track record and passion for executing sales opportunities and holding the team accountable for growth plans.
  • Experience creating Joint Customer Business Plans, and executing them with our retail partners
  • Experience with trade, trade management and efficiently leveraging investments to drive sales.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, focused on enabling team members to think outside of the box and develop strong business plans.
  • Strong negotiations skills, with a win-win mindset
  • Ability to deliver revenue targets and modify plans with new information
  • In-depth experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams (product management, customer success, legal, finance, marketing, etc.)
  • Works well up and down the organization, with a high level of EQ
  • Effectively manages all resources to ensure we deliver on all levels of the P&L.
  • Experience training and coaching team members to increase capabilities and build talent within the organization.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with great attention to detail.
  • A collaborative self-starter and thought leader who drives business forward and keeps our team ahead of trends.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a record of sourcing, developing, and maintaining partner relationships
  • Strong product sensibility, and comfort with basic operational feasibility of partner integrations
  • Experience developing first-of-kind, strategic deals which are creative and align business incentives
  • Exceptional presentation and succinct communication skills with the ability to respond actionably to complex issues, both internally at Elanco Animal Health and externally with retail partners.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • Minimum of 7 years sales experience, CPG or Pet CPG across a wide range of customers
  • Management experience, training and developing people
  • Successful track record delivering sales and exceeding targets
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of syndicated data metrics and data
  • Ability to develop strong selling stories that leverage data and financials to align objectives and drive growth
  • Dynamic presentation skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; willingness to dig into the details and work with the team.
  • Ability to hold team members accountable to commitments and metrics

 

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Knowledge of marketing and sales philosophy and practices related to the industry is preferred.
  • The incumbent must understand and be able to apply new and emerging technologies, trends and regulations that offer the opportunity for increased productivity and effectiveness.
  • The incumbent must also have excellent consulting and persuasion skills to identify and recommend strategies, programs and practices for adoption in each of the sales and marketing units.
  • Ability to operate with entrepreneurial culture in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively cope with changing environment.

 

Work Location:

  • Primary locations for this position are Greenfield, IN at the Elanco Global Headquarters.

 

Travel:

  • Travel is required for customer meetings, and trade shows.  Estimated at 25-40%
