Grow what’s next. Grow your future. Corteva Agriscience is seeking an intern to work within Durability and Resistance Management group in Johnston, Iowa. The successful candidate will have a broad exposure to the day to day activities of a corn and soybean trait development program, with a focus on insect resistance management. The intern will be involved with all aspects of field, greenhouse and laboratory research for the development of insect control products. The intern will gain experience in conducting field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments, become familiar with the biology and damage caused by key insect pests of corn and soybean.

In addition, the individual will be expected to have an independent research project that he will present at the conclusion of the internship.

A key component of the position will be conducting field, greenhouse and laboratory activities with a focus on an ecological approach to evaluating new transgenic insect resistant plants and managing pre-existing insect resistant traits. The activities may include: insect rearing, artificial infestation, rating insect damage, insect collections, and various data collection important to an insect trait development program.

Qualifications

  • College Junior or above, majoring in Entomology, Integrated Pest Management,  Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA
  • Must display excellent organization and communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, self – initiative and ability to work well with others.
