As the Communications and Marketing Specialist at the Center for Food and Agricultural Business (CAB), you will operate as a marketing consultant, project manager, and editor/writer for projects. You will have the opportunity to work independently to manage and develop the planning, scheduling, creation and production of specialized content that fuels the center’s e-mail marketing, social media and collateral development efforts, as well as other marketing strategies. The focus of this role is to turn academic outputs (e.g., journal articles) into consumable products for food and agribusiness professionals, distributing these products via the center’s various communication channels. Ultimately, this position works under general supervision, ensures all communications are in alignment with the Purdue University’s master brand and aids in furthering the center’s overall marketing strategy, increasing brand effectiveness and awareness and converting leads into loyal customers.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, professional writing, English or related area
  • 2 years of experience in marketing, social media, content creation and other digital publications to promote content
  • Proven ability in writing and editing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people, creative mindset, self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated understanding of existing and emerging inbound and outbound marketing approaches
  • Knowledge of tools for optimization and industry trends
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products
