Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the team in Johnston, IA. This position is designed for a curious, creative, and eager-to-learn early career researcher to work on an exciting project in developing crop breeding technologies, in addition to training in fast-paced research in an industrial setting. This position is for 1 year with the potential for an extension of up to three years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and conduct experiments involving cell/ tissue culture, reproductive biology, genome engineering, molecular biology, and analytical technologies
  • Collaborate with researchers working on related projects to exchange information and incorporate new insights into the planning
  • Think big by considering future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
  • Document experiment results, analyze data, prepare presentations/ reports and communicate the results with broader teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain operational excellence through quality management and good housekeeping

  • Ph.D. in plant sciences with specialization in plant breeding, cell biology, genetics, or molecular biology
  • Experience inexperimental design and statistical analysis
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and technical writing skills
  • Experience in cross-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge/ experience in molecular biology and microscopy is preferable
  • Knowledge and/ or experience in cell culture and genetic manipulation of plant cells is desirable
  • Experience in soybean tissue culture is highly desirable

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Agility to learn and pivot based on highly uncertain research outcomes
  • Ability to maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of experimental data and procedures
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic database entries, image processing)
