Job Purpose

Koppert is looking for a third- or fourth-year student pursuing an undergraduate degree in agronomy or related field, OR a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy or related field. We are searching for ambitious individual with a fundamental understanding of agronomy in the U.S. row crop sector to join our team as a Market Development Technician. This role involves offering technical assistance across IN, IL, and OH to serve and support corn and soybean farmers.

The person in this role will be working remotely from their home office but will need to have the ability to travel for team meetings, field scouting, and industry events. This role has the potential to be either part-time or full-time.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing manager to position and sell our products effectively.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret field trial data to provide valuable insights to potential growers. Input data from the field in the corporate protocols aligned with the global compliance data collection.
  • Evaluate university trials and perform data collection in adherence with the global program.
  • Participate in quarterly Global Market Development meetings.
  • Consult with farmers to understand their specific requirements and challenges regarding products.
  • Drive product promotion and demand through participation in cold calls, trade shows, conferences, and social media to enhance brand visibility.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of Koppert products, agricultural methodologies, and market strategies.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Third- or fourth-year student pursuing an undergraduate degree in agronomy or related field; OR a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy or related field.
  • Experience working on an agricultural farm operation strongly desired.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
  • Strong computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Capable of making confident, data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong note-taking skills.
  • Possess strategic thinking, analytical, and entrepreneurial skills with the ability to adapt to new environments.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This job requires you to operate part-time in a remote office environment and part-time on the road and/or while traveling.
  • Ability to work autonomously and travel up to 60% to other offices, meeting locations, or customer farms.
  • Exposure to various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to regularly sit for long periods of time during travel.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on field visits.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to repetitive motion, bending, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
