Job Summary

With our new David and Bonnie Brunner Purdue Veterinary Hospital complex nearing completion, we are looking to add more top quality veterinary professionals to our team. The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to work in the brand new, state-of-the-art equine and farm animal hospitals. The primary responsibility for this position will be to participate in the large animal hospital emergency service after hours and to oversee the large animal hospital emergency student rotation. Teaching of veterinary students while participating in the emergency service is expected and will require a 70% clinical appointment. Additionally, instructing a small number of skills laboratories, small-group sessions, and lectures may be required. The remaining on-call responsibilities would be shared with a second limited duration clinician in Large Animal Surgery and the third-year surgical resident. This is a one year limited duration position; benefits do apply.

 

Required:

  • Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an AVMA accredited Program or AVMA ECFVG-listed school
  • Diplomats of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or candidates who have completed an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (large animal internal medicine) residency program in good standing
  • Must be able to work in stressful and emergency situations without direct supervision
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with electronic medical records and Microsoft applications
