Overview

General Description of Position:

This internship position will support the Ivy Tech activities affiliated with the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network (WHIN) initiative, which involves programs in Digital Agriculture and Advanced Manufacturing. This internship position(s) will be important members of the WHIN team, and will be reporting to the WHIN Ivy Project Manager, Purdue faculty and/or staff, and other members of the WHIN team. This position will work with a 5-6 person team of Interns working over the Summer to design and execute a special Internet of projects supporting regional farms and manufacturers. Work plan may be subject to change with adaptions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. This could include restrictions to virtual activities and restricted travel.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Use of data management software and creation of databases
  • Install IoT sensors to measure Ag or Manufacturing insights
  • Market to regional Ag and Manufacturing partners
  • Round out a varied team by applying your area of interest and passion to our cause
  • Solve problems and project manage
  • Maintain professional interactions among Ivy Tech, Purdue, WHIN team & industry partners
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • An active enrollment in Ivy Tech or Purdue
  • A background in technology, software development, engineering, project management, marketing, or similar
  • Interest in a career in Digital Agriculture, Advanced Manufacturing, and/or Computer IT
  • A strong work-ethic and be a self-starter
  • The ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and maintain regular communication
  • A team-mentality
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, and able to lift up to 50 pounds
