Position Summary:

The leader in this position will own the global Record to Report process design and strategic process direction, and be the bridge between the Business, Finance, Consolidation and Planning GPO, IT and the ESC team that executes the process. The position will also work seamlessly with leaders within ESC, Business Functions, ERP Teams, Stakeholders, Finance, and IT around the world to ensure a global approach is implemented around S4 Hana systems, ancillary systems, processes, and governance.  The leader will ensure accountability, flexibility, and responsiveness for the delivery by the Finance Center of Excellence for Elanco globally.

Responsibilities:

  • S4 Hana L3 Reporting Process Expertise; Process Areas include, Treasury, Manufacturing Finance, ESC RTR, Fixed Assets and Leases, and Finance Master Data Governance.
  • Be the global champion to drive standardization across the process
  • Establish strong relationships with Business, Finance,  ESC, and IT leaders, including a structured cadence for regular interaction and two-way feedback
  • Understand Business and Finance needs, strategies, and expectations, and be the bridge between them and the ESC execution team
  • Understand system architecture, including ERP, add-ons, enablers, and interfaces, and be the voice of the ESC, Finance and Business with IT
  • Determine the strategic balance between service levels and process efficiency
  • Define / design the standard global process during implementation

Process Governance:

  • Establish and manage a governance process to evaluate and approve process localization / customization requests
  • Ensure adequate process documentation and training materials are developed and maintained, and provide user education and training
  • Proactively monitor and anticipate changing business, regulatory, and financial requirements, processes, and practice
  • Drive process compliance at both business and execution levels and establish processes to monitor and address non-standard activities
  • Establish, monitor, and report end-to-end process metrics and KPIs to measure service levels, operational effectiveness, process health, and process compliance

Controls:

  • Ensure prioritization and encourage a culture of compliance to SOx and other internal controls requirements
  • Coordinate with SOx leaders to ensure process design appropriately addresses key control requirements and risk mitigation
  • Integrate controls into process documentation and training materials
  • Support internal and external auditors and own coordination of action plans where audit procedures identify areas of potential risk or control weakness

Technical and Process Support:

  • Participate in ERP and allied systems build and configuration, setting data standards, data collection & cleansing
  • Participate in developing business scenarios and scripts for testing, and drive IIT and FIT
  • Participate in cutover and support go-live and stabilization
  • Manage and coordinate with IT processes, relationships, and resources for: trouble-shooting, issue-resolution, and escalation for process and systems issues, including assignment and prioritization of trouble tickets and change requests (Production Support Governance)
  • system upgrades, new releases, testing, change management, and communication to end-users
  • Be the managing data steward for key master data for the Order to Cash process

Continuous Improvement and External Focus:

  • Identify, implement, and monitor projects for ongoing process improvement initiatives
  • Provide external focus through benchmarking, engagement with vendors, consultants, and peers in the industry, to identify leading business processes and technologies and evaluate those for implementation in Elanco
  • Drive the continuous improvement mindset across the ESC and Business organizations
  • Drive all Change Management, including stakeholder engagement and user training.
  • A GPO will continually need to call upon ‘people skills’ when managing stakeholders, peers, his or her boss, reports, partners like IT, and the outsourcers. Much of a GPO’s success comes down to nurturing and navigating these relationships, so a GPO benefits from possessing characteristics like integrity, likeability, reliability and tenacity. It is also extremely helpful if he or she is a natural strategic thinker with a process  background.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
  • Strong technical accounting and US GAAP knowledge
  • Minimum of 3 years SAP (or other ERP) experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Accounting/Finance experience
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Proven control orientation based on prior operational business roles
  • Ability to travel globally at least once a quarter
  • Ability to work across cultures and across diverse management styles

Additional Skills & Preferences:

  • Prior experience as part of an ERP implementation team or process ownership
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant
