Corteva Actives and Product R&D product technical service team (PTEC) is seeking a Formulation Scientist. The PTEC group provides technical expertise and support to internal operations and customers for formulated crop protection products.  The successful candidate will show a passion for applying scientific principles to solve product challenges and deliver on business opportunities.  The successful candidate will design studies, perform lab preparations, make lab measurements, and finalize recommendations in reports and presentations. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members in Corteva R&D, commercial, manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams, utilizing personal and leveraged technical expertise together with project management and advanced problem-solving techniques to enable the success of the Crop Protection portfolio of products.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide crop protection formulation product expertise and support.
  • Independently design and execute on formulation raw material qualification and formulation problem solving studies/
  • Independently prepare formulations using processing equipment such as bead mills, high shear mixers, air jet mills, blenders.
  • Independently evaluates formulation samples for physical / chemical properties and is proficient in the use of laboratory instruments such as laser diffraction particle size analyzers, rheometers, density meters, pH meters etc.
  • Assemble information into reports and into concise presentations with recommendations.
  • Solve complex problems of regional or global scope.  Work collaboratively to develop and implement technical solutions in a time critical manner.
  • Develop robust documentation to enable knowledge capture, accumulation and sharing.
  • Represent formulation science & technology organization and expertise in multi-disciplinary projects across Corteva.

Qualifications

 

Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Material Science, Ag Engineering, Colloid and Surface Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Background in lab research and development desired
  • Laboratory experience with physical property and chemical analysis desired
  • Formulated product development and/or production support desired
  • Passion for working collaboratively with lab, global and cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in project management is desired.
  • Track record of using scientific approach in problem solving and issue resolution
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, responsiveness, and ability to prioritize are critical
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to distill complex ideas and proactively communicate results and progress is essential.
