Overview
Responsibilities
Formulation and Creation of New Product Prototypes
- Develop new formulas and National Brand matches
- Execute product reformulations for improvement and cost management
- Perform detailed product analytic and organoleptic evaluations
- Coordinate new product sensory testing
- Create product sales samples of new products
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendor partners and customers
Project Management and Technical Documentation
- Creates and issues Product Specifications and related technical documentation
- Performs competitive product analysis and reviews
- Execute Sensory panels and testing
- Document and communicate key project management information
Competitive Product Monitoring
- Review competitive products via organoleptic evaluation and analytic properties
- Perform reviews of label information as compared to Red Gold product portfolio
- Generate appropriate reports to communicate findings
Product Commercialization
- Plan and lead new product formula commercialization
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to launch new or improved formulations
- Provide technical leadership at manufacturing location for new items
- Lead the review and approval of newly produced items
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 4 year degree in Food Science or related technical discipline
- 3 – 5 years R&D work experience in the food and beverage industry
- Experience working within food manufacturing facilities
- Certification and/or experience in Food Sanitation, HACCP, Better Processing
- Experienced working within lab and with analytical equipment
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Computer knowledge required; MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solver and analytically minded
- Must be able to work the hours required given the needs of the department
