JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive Vice President is the chief executive officer of the Indiana Beef Cattle Association (IBCA). He/She is responsible to, and serves at the pleasure of, the IBCA Board of Directors to administer and implement the State Association’s programs.

 

Recommended Educational Background/Skills:

  • High School Diploma required
  • College Degree preferred

  • Knowledge of Agricultural and Livestock Production specifically relevant to the beef and meat industry preferred

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • General
    • Serve as the Executive Vice President of the Indiana Beef Council (IBC)which is the Qualified State Beef Council (QSBC) of Indiana which receives funds from the national Beef Promotion and Research Program.
    • Represent the beef industry
    • Represent the veal industry
    • Implement the mission statement and strategic plan of the association
    • Provide strategic leadership to the association
    • Enable the board to fulfill its governance function as well as giving direction and leadership
    • Utilize technology to continue to advance the association
  • Board Administration and Support
    • Report IBCA/ IBC financial statements to Executive Committee each month
    • Report to the IBCA/IBC Board of Directors during meetings
    • Administer daily operations and programs of the association
    • Execute the policy of the association
    • Maintain all necessary records for the association
    • Serve as secretary and ex-officio board member to the IBCA/IBC Board of Directors
    • Provide notice and mailings to IBCA/IBC Board of Directors on board meetings
    • Keep a record of all proceedings
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the IBCA/IBC Board of Directors
    • Work with association board members on area beef meetings

 

  • Program, Product and Service Delivery
    • Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services
    • Responsible for producing INDIANA BEEF magazine at least quarterly
  • Human Resource Management
    • Hire and dismiss all staff
    • Train, supervise and evaluate staff
    • Review the policies and procedures manual annually
  • Community, Stakeholder and Public Relations
    • Provide leadership for the beef industry with other Indiana agricultural organizations
    • Represent the IBCA with elected and appointed officials
    • Serve as the employee lobbyist of the IBCA
    • Partner with commodity groups, trade associations, and farm organizations on joint projects and programs
    • Serve as an advocate for the Indiana beef industry
    • Coordinate educational opportunities to Beef producers
  • Fundraising
    • Oversee fundraising planning and implementation
    • Identify resource requirements for project and program funding
    • Research potential funding sources
    • Establish strategies to approach funders
    • Submit proposals and administer records and documentation
    • Conduct fundraising efforts for the IBCA, including, but not limited to Indiana State Fair Ribeye Stand, Hoosier Beef Congress Trade Show and State Convention Trade Show.
  • Financial, Tax, Risk and Membership
    • Authorize financial commitment within the approved budget
    • Recommends yearly budget for Board approval, in conjunction with Executive Committee
    • Administers fiscal matters of the association
    • Develop and coordinate membership campaigns and conduct mailings to current and potential members
    • Reports on association membership status and trends
    • Supervise membership records
    • Understands and manages the Beef Checkoff for the State
