Position Summary:

ERP Operations Director is a key position in the ERP team responsible for managing all ERP operations. Responsibilities include solution delivery, release management, and service management capabilities for various ERP enabled business processes and functions. This position will serve as the IT manager for Elanco personnel and service partners for key IT vendors in the ERP space.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities in this position include Organizational / Resource Management (40%); Solution Delivery / Portfolio Management (30%); Service Management (30%)

Organizational / Resource Management 

  • Evolution of the organization consistent with Elanco values, with emphasis on technical knowledge, accountability, and leadership skills, to ensure delivery of the company goals and people’s personal growth needs.

  • Align with leadership, advisors and architects on resource capacity needed to support business and IT initiatives. This includes performance management, creation of opportunities for development, reward and recognition, talent assessment, merit delivery, resolution of HR issues, and support of diversity in recruitment and development.

  • Manage Elanco IT analysts (develops staffing strategy and resource capacity, recruiting and hiring) and dollars (budgets) to meet those objectives.

  • Manage the onboarding of AMS team members as it relates to daily operations and ensure team members with the right skills are onboarded.

  • Proactively partner with each direct report to ensure development needs and career objectives are clearly expressed, documented, and tracked persistently.

  • Work closely with the Global ERP Lead and influence the future roadmap and strategic direction of applications in the ERP space.

  • Develop IT area strategies and objectives and encourage the adoption of IT best practices or standardized processes in alignment with the Global ERP lead and architects in each functional Area (Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Manufacturing, Quality and Sourcing, and Record to Report)

  • Communicate direction by prioritizing work within IT portfolio of projects and service.

Solution Delivery / Portfolio Management

  • Coordinate IT process alignment by leading a team in the delivery of projects and services.

  • Drive focused strategic and business plan discussions with business leaders about upcoming business needs and transformation needs.

  • Engage with IT leadership, advisors, and architects on organizational design and process definition for ERP Services e.g., Solution Delivery and Portfolio Management.

  • Oversee robust release management practices and ensure proactive alignment with business partners.

  • Ensure clear communication channels with all stakeholders involved in the solution delivery efforts.

  • Proactively manage project risk and issues while identifying appropriate mitigations.

  • Leverage appropriate solution delivery practices to enable timely value realization.

  • Align and influence IT strategies by partnering with Global ERP Lead and other functions to support Elanco wide initiatives.

Service Management 

  • Develop and ensure proactive sustainability and resilience for ERP platform across Elanco.

  • Develop strong relationships with internal service owners, service providers and supplier managers in Elanco IT organizations regarding the delivery of end-to-end services.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and integrity of data and processes supported by ERP applications by implementing and practicing effective IT general controls (ITGC) as system custodian for ERP applications.

  • Design, implement, and manage the Service Level Management process to deliver end-to-end IT service at a level that supports the business need and requirements.

  • Manage and track the performance of the AMS support team to ensure business needs and requirements are met in a timely manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT solution delivery, service management, or portfolio management with a focus on ERP (SAP preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of managing a global, multi discipline IT Team.

  • Experience in providing technical coaching and feedback to architects, analysts, and technology professionals.

  • Experience in developing budgets, forecasts, and plans, and demonstrated ability to manage to financial plans.

  • Experience in vendor management to provide solutions and services.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively about complex business problems and resolve through new approaches.

  • Good analytical and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and with written communications.

  • Good leadership and negotiating skills and proven ability to bring different teams that only report in a dotted line together and deliver quality solutions on time and on budget.

  • Ability to listen, hear, and translate complex business requirements in simple easy to understand language.

  • Capable of managing multiple projects and competing requirements with good time management skills.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Good understanding of business processes in the Life sciences/Pharmaceutical domain and compliance with SOX and GxP.

  • Experience managing privacy information and supporting corporate business functions.

  • Certification in ITIL processes.

  • Previous experience in an application delivery or application services center of excellence.
