Embedded Systems Engineering Internship/Co-Op

Headsight, a leading provider of precision agriculture technology for arhvesting, is seeking Interns/Co-Ops to help develop our growing suite of on-equipment control, cloud, and mobile products. The Headsight team develops innovative products that improve the lives of farmers and make agriculture more sustainable, efficient, and profitable.  The Embedded Systems Engineering Intern/Co-Op will receive hands-on experience in many different areas of product development based in Bremen, IN. This paid internship/Co-Op will focus on cutting-edge projects developing on-farm harvesting systems for advanced precision ag applications.

We are located Bremen, IN, which is about 30 minutes from downtown South Bend, IN (also about 1.5 hours from Ft. Wayne, IN; 2.0 hours from West Lafayette, IN; 2.0 hours from Chicago, IL; 2.5 hours from Indianapolis, IN). Our engineering team is comprised of software, electrical, mechanical, and test engineers, all housed in a beautiful building just south of downtown Bremen.

What will I be doing?

  • Designing and testing of new product concepts and technology
  • Developing embedded software for real-time microprocessor-based control and monitoring systems
  • Working with a multidisciplinary engineering team to design and implement control system strategies
  • Climbing on agricultural equipment to validate and experience our products first-hand
  • Testing and support of software and electrical systems as products move through the development cycle

What must I have?

  • Current enrolled as a sophomore or higher in BS or MS degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in low-level C programming for embedded microcontrollers
  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging hardware-software interactions
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to be a flexible team player
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States
  • Personal Transportation
  • Willingness to relocate to the Bremen, IN area

What other specific skills & experience would be good for me to have?

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0
  • Exposure of embedded communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting interactions between electronic control systems, harnessing, and mechanical systems
