The Distribution Requirements Specialist position is responsible for freight and warehousing planning along with executing least cost/most efficient logistics plans that meet customer’s needs.  This position will also coordinate the frequent distribution of production, quality, or logistics plans to Seed Production & Supply Chain managers, production locations, and logistics partners. Identify and develop consistent business process improvements and systems that enhance Seed Production & Supply Chain, Logistics ability to develop and execute plans for all product lines.  Improve the integration of the supply chain process with the processes of other departments within Corteva.

This role can accommodate a flexible work arrangement where you may work multiple days a week from home.

What you will do:

  • Coordinate or oversee NAS or global seed movement and define the Network Footprint ensuring compliance with country, state, and local requirements.  Determine best service to manage volume and time needed and meet customer needs.  Prioritize shipments to meet lead time deadlines.  Ensure proper inspections are done and determine when to ship immediately or move to 3rd party warehouse.
  • Identify and plan finished goods supply movements between locations to meet shipping needs based on cost, capacity, and serviceability.  Monitor, evaluate and communicate NA sales shipping needs, progress, and issues
  • Coordinate inbound & outbound process planning and documentation.  Determine best shipping process (truck, rail, ocean, etc.) for moving seed, as well as, engineering & project items, ag implements, research supplies, promotional items, etc.  Determine and oversee loading and equipment needs.   Manage import process from overseas entities.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, and process improvement tools.
  • The Primary point of contact providing consultation to production locations, 3 PL, and carrier to resolve situation or issues that arise concerning transportation. Significate phone and email communication supporting shipping needs for finished and raw seed movements. Recommend and establish best practices for our site(s) and 3PL(s) on issues such as carrier selection, alternative rates lanes (such as shuttles), continuous moves, assessorial fees and exception approvals.
  • Ensuring that US regulations are followed; working with corporate compliance, finance and US government agencies on Annual Inventory audits and Annual Cycle Counts.  Understanding of Agricultural import permits and phytosanitary compliance for seed movements.
  • Monitor policies, rules and reg. (i.e. transportation industry, NA Distribution dept., plant specification, and Regulatory requirements for transportation of seed movements throughout North America. Identify and address compliance issues and recommend process changes.
  • Build reports and analysis freight spend to establish rates while taking into consideration historic data, current transportation market place and carrier base. Weekly review and calculation of Pioneer Fuel Surcharge for carrier payment. Monitor shipment performance to ensure compliance with Pioneer requirements.


What expertise have you grown? What is required from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Management, or related field
  • 3-5 years’ of experience in Agriculture, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Management, or related field
  • Working knowledge of transportation Industry
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of International trade within NA (Canada/US)
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
  • Strong analytical and report writing abilities
  • High level of communication skills, written and oral
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Basic understanding of Six Sigma/LEAN/DPS and project management frameworks highly preferred
