Position Brand Description:

Reporting to the Site Head, the Director – Engineering is responsible for the technical and strategic leadership of the Engineering Function and Maintenanceat the Site. You will lead, coach, and develop the engineering team of 3 engineers and contractors to excel in line with Elanco Engineering and Manufacturing principles.  This is a critical role on the Site Leadership Team, who collectively set and drive the mission for the Site. This is also a critical Global role and connects with the broader Global Engineering Function. The position offers an excellent opportunity for you to take that step to owning and leading a function at a Site where you can learn, develop, and grow in an inclusive and supportive leadership team.


Key Objectives/Deliverables:

As well as a critical role on the Site Leadership Team, the Director is accountable for all aspects of engineering at the Site across multiple technologies (granulation, compression, liquid mixing, tube filling, extrusion, solid dosage packaging).



  • Leadership and performance management for the Site Engineering team (including maintenance, reliability, process engineers, process automation engineers and capital project managers)
  • Developing the long term strategy for the engineering function and a strategic investment plan for the Site facilities
  • Development of technical talent and leaders for Engineering and other Manufacturing functions across Elanco


Engineering Team Accountability:

  • Ensuring all the Site assets are qualified, maintained and recapitalized to ensure compliance with Elanco standards & capability
  • Support to manufacturing operations to achieve production goals in a manner that meets health, safety, environmental and quality expectations
  • Driving continuous improvement of assets to improve overall equipment effectiveness and optimize resources
  • Planning and execution of capital investments in an effective and efficient way


Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Higher
  • Prior working experience of Engineering Team Leadership in the areas of maintenance, reliability, process engineering support or capital planning and delivery
  • Prior working experience in a regulated industry, for example FDA, EMA (EU GMP), Animal Health, Pharmaceutical or Biotech manufacturing environment
  • Fluent in English to enable effective communication skills in multi-cultural setting

  • Organizational influence and collaboration to leverage and drive a broader improvement agenda at both the site and within the global engineering function


Additional Information:

  • Monday through Friday work schedule with situations that may arise where off-schedule work, both on site and off site may be required
  • Domestic and international travel required on a periodic basis to visit manufacturing sites and for significant business initiatives.
