POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the company’s end to end sourcing of operating supplies required for production of products as well as labeling compliance for Federal, State and industry partner requirements.  This position requires candidates to be located in the Central or Eastern Time Zone to ensure alignment with team collaboration and business hours.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate purchasing of supplies and distribution of bags, tags, boxes, pallets, seed treatment and other needed supplies for the production process at all locations for all crops
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of supply and demand for supplies to assure timely production and delivery of supply items to ensure efficiencies at all production facilities
  • Works with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery and service.
  • Partner with Procurement to negotiate and complete contracts with vendors as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material need and availability.
  • Develop crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs.
  • Qualify, audit, and maintain critical and non-critical suppliers via internal QMS procedures.
  • Monitor requirements from trait and treatment suppliers for compliance on labeling
  • Partner with cross functional groups (internal and external) when updates are needed for compliance requirements
  • Communicate impact of purchases on budgeted dollars for each supply item
  • Track and report treatment consumption by site to achieve contract and company requirements
  • Coordinate with Field Managers the purchase of annual field chemicals and submit to approved supplier.
  • Assist with the annual inventory audit for third parties
  • Coordinate the disposal of obsolete and quality discard seed for all products
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Project a positive image of AgReliant Genetics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in business or agricultural related field preferred
  • Previous experience in seed operations, supply management and purchasing desired
  • Six Sigma training and/or Lean certification a plus
  • CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or related sourcing professional certification preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, team player, detail orientated, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Manage costs and budgets
  • Problem solver using analytics

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR Requirements
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Some overnight travel required.
