Feeding Indiana’s Hungry is a 501(c)3 Partner State Association of Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Feeding Indiana’s Hungry eleven member food banks serve all 92 Indiana counties in partnership with a network of roughly 1,400 local food pantries and shelters.

In partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Manager has a key role in grant writing, administration and reporting. Primary responsibilities include budgeting, securing and administering revenue resources for the organization, including donor management and development. This role is a strategic partner in both discovering and maximizing various sources of funding.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Collaborate with Executive Director and board development committee as well as other key partners to research, identify, and prioritize potential funding opportunities;

· Work with Executive Director to set annual fundraising goals, and develop strategies for meeting those goals through retention of existing donors, and development of new sources;

· Conduct outreach to potential funders and manage relationships in service to annual fundraising goal;

· Develop and foster relationships with public and private grant makers;

· Collaborate with Marketing & Communications contractors to create compelling fundraising materials particularly for non-traditional revenue generation;

· Draft and edit high-quality, compelling letters of inquiry and grant proposals;

· Contribute to strategy and planning meetings;

· Maintain detailed grants calendar and accurate records in shared systems, including donor management, grant tracking and reporting software;

· Work closely with the Feeding Indiana’s Hungry staff to co-lead grant reporting;

· Ensure compliance with all funder guidelines in grant submission and reporting;

· Research, collect data and study findings to support grant proposals;

· Cultivate productive working relationships with colleagues from all initiatives and departments, especially as related to the roles of other teams in the grants process;

· Provide writing support for other development efforts, including acknowledgements, stewardship, cultivation and funding requests as needed;

· Represent Feeding Indiana’s Hungry at sponsored events;

· Organize and lead fundraising events for Feeding Indiana’s Hungry;

· Assist Executive Director with day to day finance and bookkeeping tasks

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, and Training

· 5-7 years of fundraising experience;

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, or a related field preferred;

· Strong grant writing experience- including foundation and government grants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal communication skill, in particular, the ability to understand and organize detailed information;

· Knowledge and able to apply fundraising best practices in a not-for-profit environment;

· Working knowledge of prospect cultivation and solicitation process;

· Event planning;

· Strong project management and problem-solving skills;

· Ability to adapt to different work styles and behaviors;

· Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft tools, use of spreadsheets and fundraising database/software programs;

· Ability to travel ~10%;

· Accurate and efficient data entry skills;

· Strong attention to detail;

· Handle multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines;

· Work independently as well as a member of a group team;

· Handle confidential information;

· Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools, and devices) used in performing only the essential function include computer and related equipment, calculator, photocopier, and telephone;

· Proven excellence in organizational and planning skills; problem solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
