Your Role: Dairy Strategic Account Manager
The Strategic Account Manager for the Dairy business will focus on key partnership with customers, nutritionists, and processors to advance Elanco business in the Central United States. The account manager will lead the journey to reach and maintain mutual vision, transparency, and mutual impact with assigned accounts. As a trusted business partner, he/she will be responsible for understanding the customer’s business model, needs and to facilitate the coordination of Elanco activities related to the account and Elanco account team.
Your Responsibilities:
- Drive SAM milestone execution within large, influential, national multi-state dairy farm customers and the consultants that impact end users in the Central Region of the United States, or related geographies as the customer needs arise
- Further develop the value beyond product offerings to key customers and facilitate the needs identified for scaling and enhancing the customer experience
- Removing barriers for technical leadership to grow and protect the Elanco dairy portfolio to include vaccines, anti-infectives, and medicated feed additive (MFA) business
- Embrace, spread and maximize SAM capabilities by working with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination, communication, and design of customized solutions
- Establish long term strategic initiatives with customers; confirm pre-established value, review scorecard with decision makers and capture the value back for Elanco
- Manage and influence complex customer/account decision-making process with the ability to deal well with ambiguity
- In depth understanding of the customer as demonstrated and communicated through a comprehensive strategic business plan
- Identify and assess customer needs. Uncover customer’s solvable problems and opportunities. Incorporate the Elanco product portfolio (products and services) as a part of the solution.
- Serve as the strategic partner with existing Food Industry team member to build diamond approach with each processor partnership with ownership from processor to customer relationship for sustainability and carbon credits in the Central Region of the United States.
- Oversee and Ensure the development and expansion of the Dairy Uplook platform to meet the needs of Bovaer expectations and expansion.
- Oversee the relationship between Uplook and all carbon brokers to create the optimum efficiency and continued evolution as needs and opportunities change in the carbon market and sustainability space
- Collaborate with leadership team and national accounts team to execute dairy strategic plans
- Serve as a mentor and coach to peers, account team members, and new employees within the dairy business to foster collaboration and increase team engagement in dairy strategies
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma/ GED with equivalent level of experience
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in dairy pharmaceutical or feed sales or equivalent selling experience
- Top Skills: Excellent communication skills, self-starter with high initiative and sound work ethic, with the ability to learn, apply, and communicate technical/scientific knowledge
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
- Sales experience in dairy industry, feed/nutritional, animal health, key accounts or strategic account skills preferred
- Experience or training in strategic accounts, key account management, strategic account management (SAM) process encouraged
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Ability to influence across multiple disciplines: ie: veterinary, nutritional, processing, feed milling, sales and marketing, and senior management, or comparable demonstrated skill.
- Strong learning agility, business acumen and facilitation skills
- Ability to relocate if necessary
- Sales and influence experience
- Passion for selling and animal agriculture
- Position is field based; work is in the field interacting with customers
Additional Information:
- Travel Requirements: Travel will be required. Overnight travel will depend on location; expect 50% to 75% overnight travel.
- US Remote: Field-based role in which you operate from your home but serve customers in a predefined area
- Location: Ideal location would be Central United States with easy access to heavy dairy populations and an airport.

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $96,000 to $165,000 depending partly on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
