Job Summary

As the Communications and Marketing Specialist at the Center for Food and Agricultural Business (CAB), you will operate as a marketing consultant, project manager, and editor/writer for projects. You will have the opportunity to work independently to manage and develop the planning, scheduling, creation and production of specialized content that fuels the center’s e-mail marketing, social media and collateral development efforts, as well as other marketing strategies. The focus of this role is to turn academic outputs (e.g., journal articles) into consumable products for food and agribusiness professionals, distributing these products via the center’s various communication channels. Ultimately, this position works under general supervision, ensures all communications are in alignment with the Purdue University’s master brand and aids in furthering the center’s overall marketing strategy, increasing brand effectiveness and awareness and converting leads into loyal customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Create content for the center’s website as well as marketing collateral, including brochures, reports, trade press articles, marketing emails, blogs, etc. which involves identifying and collaborating with authors to convert ideas into consumable communications, writing and editing copy, send text to the director of marketing for final edits and submit articles for publication
  • Implementation of the content marketing plan including email campaigns, digital ads and other activities identified
  • Ensure all materials are in alignment with Purdue University’s master brand
  • Support the creation and implementation of the CAB’s marketing strategy, including identification of segments, the number of qualified members in those segments, determining appropriate messaging and supporting efforts to price, design and communicate content with segment members
  • Lead and execute the implementation of the center’s social media strategy, which includes identifying and drafting content to be posted in order to extend the center’s reach and expand its audience
  • Perform updates to the website, which may involve adding new content, maintaining program pages, creating graphics for design purposes, etc

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, professional writing, English or related area
  • 2 years of experience in marketing, social media, content creation and other digital publications to promote content
  • Proven ability in writing and editing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people, creative mindset, self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated understanding of existing and emerging inbound and outbound marketing approaches
  • Knowledge of tools for optimization and industry trends
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Create Suite, graphic design experience
  • Knowledge of web design and updates
  • Video production and editing skills
  • Experience working in Google Ads and/or Google Analytics
  • Experience in Salesforce/Hubspot
  • Knowledge of campaign creation for marketing purposes
