INTERN – CROP SCOUT/OPERATIONS
Status: Part-Time/ Non-Exempt
Reports to: INTERN – CROP SCOUT/OPERATIONS
Summary: The Crop Scout/Operations Intern is responsible for learning a wide variety of branch operational tasks and scout crops. Assignments include laboring beside team in all tasks to serve customers, so expect to work when the team works. This intern will inspect fields, record, and report data. Experiences will include: product loading and delivery, physical labor, crop scouting for pests and aerial application timing, workflow scheduling of applicators and equipment, application technology, exposure to meetings and operational/management issues, and hub/elevator preparation and organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work closely with Manager, Operations Manager, and other members of Ceres Solutions agronomy team.
- Will attend safety training for all aspects of branch activities. Obtain Ag CDL.
- Deliver chemicals as needed.
- Perform general crop scouting inspecting for weeds, insects, diseases, and other observations before herbicide applications.
- Utilize technology to gather data and be able to effectively report findings to customers and location Manager. Will get exposure to how sales staff/agronomist communicate with customers regarding data and results.
- Participate in Ceres Solutions Intern training and attend all other development opportunities offered by the Intern Coordinators.
- Will prepare an end of season intern presentation to be presented to the intern group and leadership.
- Must be excellent with time management and organizational skills.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to join in, ask questions, be proactive, contribute, and communicate with employees and customers effectively.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and be an independent problem-solver.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid AgCDL with required endorsements. Possession of license or immediate ability to obtain.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.
