The Bioanalytical Scientist in the Microbial Screening & Analytical group is responsible for providing analytical support to a diverse set of stakeholders in Biologicals & Natural Products and Bioprocess Science & Technology. The primary focus of this lab-based role will be to deploy automated liquid handlers for sample preparation and analytical methods using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques to analyze fermentation samples or related materials.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Do: 

  • Support project scientists in a cross-disciplinary environment to apply various analytical techniques to fermentation broths, cell extracts and other biological matrices
  • Execute and improve established methods with modern separation techniques for speed, resolution, accuracy, and precision
  • Perform and optimize sample preparation using automated liquid handlers
  • Independently work on multiple projects in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a high level of communication and focus on understanding stakeholder needs and delivering results

Qualifications

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in at least one following: Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related scientific discipline
  • Works effectively in a collaborative environment with other scientists to achieve research goals
  • Possesses excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Highly motivated, possess strong initiative and drive, and eager learner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years post-Bachelor’s degree academic or industrial experience
  • Applied understanding of modern separation and characterization techniques using high-pressure liquid chromatography or gas chromatography
  • Industrial experience with automated liquid handlers
