Your Role: Analytical Chemist – Biopharma Technical Development
As an Analytical Chemist in Biopharma Technical Development, you will play a key role in supporting Elanco’s product development efforts. This laboratory-based role will involve designing, developing, and validating assays, interpreting complex data, and contributing to product and process optimization. You will interact with multiple discovery and research laboratories while managing multiple projects.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, qualify, and validate analytical assays, including cell-based bioassays and ELISAs, for product characterization, release, and stability testing.
- Support upstream/downstream bioprocesses and formulation development through rapid and timely analytical testing.
- Contribute to the development of analytical control strategies and setting specifications in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Author and review technical documents such as SOPs, protocols, and reports, while maintaining instrumentation systems and laboratory safety standards.
- Train and mentor associates globally, facilitating consistent practices across sites, and coordinate method transfers and validations with internal teams and CROs.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, Cellular Biology).
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Biotech/Biopharmaceutical industry, with expertise in large molecule analytical characterization (e.g., recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, peptides).
- Top Skills: Expertise in assay development, validation, and optimization, combined with strong oral and written communication, statistical analysis, and organizational skills.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):
- Hands-on experience with immunoassay development, including ELISAs and bioassays, along with proficiency in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems, demonstrate creativity, and take initiative in analytical method development.
- Knowledge of orthogonal characterization techniques for standards and reagents.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and setting specifications for clinical trial materials.
- Capability to work productively in an interdisciplinary, matrixed team environment.
Additional Information:
Travel: Minimal travel required (<10%).
