Overview
Position Overview:
Agronomy Innovation Interns will assist with various agronomy technology projects throughout the growing season. These activities include but are not limited to project engineering, UAV operations, software/app development, and trial plot maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
- Assist Ag Tech Team with Spray Drone Operations.
- Develop software to enhance efficiencies of agronomy operations.
- Work with Ag Tech team on innovative project(s).
- Assist with maintenance with trial plot. This includes planting, in-season upkeep, spraying, fertilizer applications, and plot days.
- Based in Tipton, Indiana at the Agronomy Technology Center.
- 50% in fields, 25% in office, 25% in training/tours/events.
- Weekly Professional Development Activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time and under all weather conditions.
- Above average organizational skills, ability to learn new concepts, and learn quickly.
- Complete work with little or no supervision in a timely manner; self-motivated.
- Agronomy, Ag Engineering, or Ag Systems Management majors preferred. Must have previous agronomy/field experience, or experience with software/programming/engineering.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle.
- Ability to use field equipment, software, GPS, etc.
Compensation:
- Hourly (Competitive wage).
- Mileage reimbursement following IRS Standard Rate.
- Drone License Education and exam fee reimbursement (Category 11 and Core if already Part 107 certified).
- Incentives/Awards for interns who complete internship.
Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in accredited college or university.
