Scope:
The Validation Manager is responsible for managing several key prerequisite programs including – calibration of equipment, validations of preventive controls, and performance metrics measuring effectiveness of sanitation activities. These sanitation activities encompass – master sanitation, environmental monitoring and operator CILs. This individual works in conjunction with the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager developing policies and standards to ensure the plant is prepared for any inspection. They work across the organization to educate and drive adherence to policies and standards.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement prerequisite programs to drive food safety around plant hygiene.
- Enhance and maintain a Master Sanitation Schedule and operator Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CILs) activities.
- Work with the sanitation team and plant managers to ensure adherence to the MSS.
- Lead CIP validation studies and evaluate results.
- Partner with engineering to drive hygienic design.
- Review, update, and develop SSOPs.
- Manages the execution of the Environmental Monitoring Program and results.
- Conduct investigations and perform RCA/CAPAs when out of Specification results occur.
- Establish strong relationships throughout the organization. Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Reviews calibrations of equipment and ensures appropriate actions are taken to address nonconformances.
- Participates in development and execution of validation protocols for preventive controls which are scientific and thorough.
- Maintains a work environment committed to sustainable safety by enforcing safety rules, setting a safe example, and coaching and communicating to associates the reasons for safe operations.
- Participate in internal audits and external audits, including annual SQF recertification audit.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.
- Differentiate among competing demands and establish or shift priorities as needed.
- Organize and coordinate multiple tasks and to work under time pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work within aggressive timeframes with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:
- Experience with HACCP Plans and an understanding of dairy / food microbiological principles.
- Familiarity with microbial flora and fauna found in food (dairy) plants and monitoring and control programs associated with these.
- Experience with regulatory and third party audits (e.g. SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000)
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, and / or Food Science a minimum. Demonstrated experience with food or nutritional products manufacturing and / or quality programs required. Familiarity with food / nutritional product legislation (FDA & USDA 21CFR & 9 CFR) a plus.
- HACCP, PCQI Certification
- Familiar with current good manufacturing requirements
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills; good attention to detail and ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills
- Must have the ability to perform under pressure and communicate well with all departments
- Must have good computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel, Basic
- Ability to multi-task and work within aggressive timeframes with minimal supervision
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be available to work during extended or off-hours
- Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
- Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.
