ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) is a non-profit alliance of the CEOs of the region’s major corporations, philanthropic organizations and universities focused on strategic, long-term economic development. Its mission is to “transform the economy of Indiana to create a more sustainable prosperity and quality of life for our citizens and future generations.” The group creates long-term strategies, research and programs for regional growth and concentrates on issues such as talent, workforce development, the innovation economy, STEM education, quality of place, access to capital and business climate.
CICP is also the parent organization of five branded initiatives: AgriNovus Indiana (agbioscience innovation); Ascend Indiana (workforce development); BioCrossroads (life sciences); Conexus Indiana (advanced manufacturing and logistics and TechPoint (tech innovation and entrepreneurship). In addition to its branded initiatives, CICP has successfully incubated and launched the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, the Battery Innovation Center, the Applied Research Institute, and 16 Tech Community Corporation.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Staff Accountant works with the accounting team to attend to the day-to-day accounting needs of the organization. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong accounting, written and verbal communication, administrative, organizational skills and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities with great attention to detail. The Staff Accountant must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. This individual will act as a primary accounting contact for the organization.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monthly Financials
- Reconciles CICP balance sheet accounts monthly and updates supporting documentation.
- Reconciles paid AR invoices vs Converted invoices to ensure modified cash books are accurate.
- Analyzes, corrects, and creates journal entries.
- Performs reconciliation of complex transactions. Compares to budget.
- Reviews deferred revenue calculations.
- Prepares monthly financial statement drafts for approval by the Director of Accounting.
- Reviews grant financials for accuracy.
- Runs, saves, and distributes CICP monthly financial reports upon approval.
Cash Management
- Reviews available cash on a periodic basis. Submits recommendation for all CICP CD deposits/withdrawals as needed.
Budget
- Assists in creating initiative budgets and imports to Martus/Intacct.
General
- Assists in the preparation of all financial materials and schedules relating to all initiatives.
- Conducts periodic reviews of and verification of records, compliance with standards, policies, and procedures. Works with auditors to achieve compliance with Modified Cash, GAAP, and IRS regulations.
- Assists with maintenance of GL/Project/Class organization-wide in Intacct.
- Prepares and attaches in Intacct supporting documentation as needed for transactions, including all journal entries.
- Records bank transfers in Intacct.
- Learns AP and AR processes to provide support and backup as needed.
- Reviews and approves all vendor bills, customer invoices and journal entries for accuracy, compliance and backup documentation prior to posting.
- Assists with all intercompany reconciliation entries.
- Provides research, management and support related to special projects. Potential projects include remote deposit, positive pay, employee expense reporting, etc.
- Assists with monitoring financial compliance with grant terms.
- Reviews grants monthly results and implement monthly variance reports.
- Recommends process improvements to the accounting department based on initiative-level findings and recurring variances.
Month-End Close
- Owns month-end items for assigned initiative and assists with items in other initiatives
- Assists with preparation of month-end reconciliations of deposits and cash receipts to general ledger activity.
- Assists with the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the reconcile general ledger activity to grant deferred revenue schedules.
- Prepares journal entries for the month end or as required for reconciliation with appropriate backup.
- Any other monthly tasks assigned in the month end close process.
Annually
- Assists in preparing year-end reconciliations.
- Assists in preparing the necessary documentation for the annual financial statement audit.
- Assists in preparing necessary documentation for annual not-for-profit 990 informational filing and corporate entity tax returns.
- Assists the accounting team with various projects assigned.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. A minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting required, preferably using Intacct.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and thrive as a team member.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set, and manage to milestone, and then execute very effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Can manage and handle ambiguity with emotional maturity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Sage/Intacct, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Salesforce a plus.
