POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for disease screens, disease nurseries, disease identification, inoculum preparation, and training of research and commercial personnel. The position will service all field groups including breeding, discovery, trait introgression, and precommercial operations. This person can be located at one of our four research stations in Iowa, Illinois, or Indiana.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead a field-oriented plant pathology program that services various groups within Research and Commercial organizations
- Collect data on various types of projects for specific customers
- Conceive and/or implement new technology allowing pathology-related tasks to be completed more efficiently
- Maintain complete and accurate nursery records in the database.
- Organize and maintain inventory of genetic material in storage.
- Develop and implement benchmarking strategies to track improvement of the key deliverables
- Develop training materials to train research and commercial personnel on important biotic and abiotic stresses
- Hire, motivate, train, and lead seasonal employees
- Champion and demonstrate the AgReliant Genetics Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Promote an inspiring team environment and open communication
- Coordinate with others to complete joint products
- Develop strong ties to public researchers and institutions
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Masters degree in plant pathology or related field.
- Five (5) or more years’ experience working within field-focused research programs
- Strong pathology background
- Experience with leading, managing, and hiring full-time and seasonal employees

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong influencing skills to win stakeholder support of team strategies
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to identify and work with various pathogens of corn in the lab and field
- Ability to drive significant organization and process changes
- Ability to meet timelines and deliver data or specific information
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and teams and to meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently when needed
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Ability to travel up to 20 %
- Working outdoors seasonally
- Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR Requirements
